Synopsis
Iron Maiden: Flight 666 (2009) is a concert documentary you can watch online on iFILM. The cameras ride along with the British metal giants during their 2008 Somewhere Back in Time tour, as the band crosses the globe aboard a custom Boeing 757.
Here's the twist: frontman Bruce Dickinson is a licensed commercial pilot, and he flies the plane — nicknamed Ed Force One — himself, hauling the band, the crew and the entire stage set from continent to continent. The whole classic lineup is on board: Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Janick Gers, founder and bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain. Backstage downtime cuts straight into roaring live sets, from Mumbai to Buenos Aires.
Directed by Canadians Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen, the team behind Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, the film skips the usual rockumentary swagger. It leans on tired faces in cramped cabins and the sheer noise of the crowd instead. For anyone into heavy music, it lands every time.
