Synopsis
Hudson & Rex (2019) is a Canadian crime series you can watch online on iFILM. Detective Charlie Hudson works major cases in St. John's, and his partner is a German Shepherd named Rex.
Rex came to him the hard way. His previous handler, K9 officer Grace Lindsey, was killed in the line of duty, and the dog was due to be put down before Charlie stepped in. Now Rex's nose and instincts crack the cases that stump the humans around him. Forensic specialist Sarah (Mayko Nguyen) and superintendent Joe Donovan (Kevin Hanchard) round out the squad, one investigation per episode.
It's a modern remake of the Austrian hit Kommissar Rex, relocated to the windswept coast of Newfoundland. The tone stays light — clean procedural plotting, a steady pulse of tension, and a four-legged lead with more charm than most of the cast. Several seasons in and still running.
