Synopsis
My Family (1995) is an American family epic you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Gregory Nava. The film covers three generations of the Sanchez family — from Jose's long walk north from Mexico to California in the 1930s, through his grandchildren navigating East L.A. in the '60s.
Narrated by Paco, the family's writer, it moves through births, marriages, deportations and deaths at the pace of an oral history. Edward James Olmos and Jimmy Smits anchor the cast; Esai Morales plays Chucho, whose arc is the film's most violent passage. Jennifer Lopez, early in her career, appears as Paco's wife Maria in the third act.
Nava shoots with the directness of a corrido — grief and celebration crammed into the same reel without apology for the melodrama. At 128 minutes it covers a lot of ground; some threads get more air than others, but the cumulative weight lands. Stream My Family (1995) online on iFILM.
