Man of the House

Man of the House (1995) is an American family comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by James Orr and starring Chevy Chase, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Farrah Fawcett. Jack, a lawyer, wants to marry Sandy. Her eleven-year-old son Ben has other ideas.

Ben wages a careful campaign to drive Jack out — sabotaging dates, setting traps, doing everything short of a formal restraining order. Jack decides the best way through is alongside the kid, and the two end up joining the Indian Guides together, a father-son scouting group that predictably puts both of them in situations neither was prepared for. George Wendt is around as the neighbour to make things worse in the funniest possible way.

It is a Disney comedy of the mid-nineties: light, warm, with a conclusion nobody will find surprising. Chase plays the hapless adult well, and Thomas — then at the height of his Home Improvement fame — more than holds his own. Good weekend viewing for families. Stream Man of the House on iFILM.
