Synopsis
Confidentially Yours (Vivement dimanche!, 1983) is the final film François Truffaut completed before his death — a French crime comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Jean-Louis Trintignant and Fanny Ardant star; cinematographer Nestor Almendros shot it in black and white as a deliberate nod to 1940s American noir.
Julien Vercel, a Parisian real-estate agent, finds himself the prime suspect in two killings. A hunter shot dead in the woods with a rare pellet that matches his own cartridges. His wife — who turned out to be the dead man's mistress — murdered shortly after. No alibi for either. While Julien stays low, his secretary Barbara sets off on her own investigation: she haunts the nighttime streets of Nice, breaks into the wrong places at the wrong hours, and slowly assembles the pieces that the police are not looking for.
Truffaut keeps the tone light without undercutting the stakes, and Ardant's Barbara carries the film — quick, clever and consistently more interesting than the crime itself. Stream Confidentially Yours (1983) online on iFILM.
