Synopsis
"Paris When It Sizzles" (1964) is a Hollywood comedy you can watch online on iFILM — William Holden and Audrey Hepburn, directed by Richard Quine. The setup: screenwriter Richard Benson has spent months in Paris on a producer's dime, supposedly writing a script. He hasn't written a word. Deadline is in two days.
He hires temp secretary Gabrielle, and together they start inventing scenes. Every story they dream up immediately plays out on screen with Holden and Hepburn acting their fictional characters — so the film becomes the very script they're struggling to finish. For a 1964 studio picture, the meta-structure is surprisingly playful. Tony Curtis and Marlene Dietrich turn up in cameos.
Hepburn in Givenchy, Holden playing a charming wreck who can't quite stop himself — the pairing works. Stream "Paris When It Sizzles" (1964) online on iFILM.
