Gus is a broadband engineer who spends his weekends hunting ghosts and posting the footage online. His new work partner Elton is a skeptic — until he isn't. Together they drive around the decaying corners of Britain, pointing homemade equipment at old hospitals and abandoned churches, slowly realizing that what they're picking up is bigger and stranger than anything they'd ever put in a YouTube video. Malcolm McDowell, Emma D'Arcy, and Kelly Macdonald fill out the world around them.
Pegg and Frost know this genre well enough to play it straight when it counts — there are sequences here that are properly unsettling — and absurd when the moment calls for it.
