Synopsis
The Vicar of Dibley (1994) is a much-loved BBC sitcom you can watch online on iFILM — a gentle, talky comedy about a tiny village and its new priest.
When the sleepy Oxfordshire parish of Dibley loses its old vicar, the locals brace for a stern grey-haired replacement. What turns up is Geraldine Granger (Dawn French): chocolate-loving, quick to laugh, and not at all what the council had in mind. A woman in the pulpit nearly tips the village committee into outright panic. Bit by bit, Dibley's stubborn eccentrics come round.
The series was created by Richard Curtis of Four Weddings and a Funeral and Love Actually, and it grew out of the real 1992 Church of England vote to ordain women. Expect Geraldine's trademark joke at the close of every episode and a cast of rural oddballs played by Emma Chambers, Trevor Peacock and Gary Waldhorn. Stream every episode of The Vicar of Dibley online on iFILM.
