Synopsis
Wild Men (Vildmænd, 2022) is Thomas Daneskov's tragicomedy, available to watch online on iFILM. Office manager Martin, deep in a midlife crisis, walks out on his family and into the Norwegian mountains to live like a Viking — bow, arrows and animal pelts instead of a suit.
The fantasy crashes into reality fast. Hunting with a bow gets him nowhere, so he starts bartering cigarettes for an axe in rural supermarkets. The police are baffled, his wife is stunned (Sofie Gråbøl of The Killing), and a fugitive named Musa, tangled up with drug runners, latches onto him. What follows is a chase through the fjords and an unlikely friendship neither man asked for.
Rasmus Bjerg carries the whole thing, swinging between farce and genuine sadness. Daneskov pokes holes in the cult of manhood without ever sneering at it, and the Scandinavian landscape is shot so well you'll want to disappear into it too. Stream Wild Men (2022) online on iFILM.
