Synopsis
Miss Hokusai (2015) is an animated period drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Keiichi Hara. Edo, 1814: inside the studio of the great painter Tetsuzo — the man the world would later know as Hokusai — his daughter O-Ei wields a brush every bit as sharp as his.
O-Ei is twenty-three, blunt and stubborn, and almost entirely uncredited. She finishes her father's commissions yet never signs them. Outside, the crowded city churns with courtesans, monks, merchants and the odd ghost out of old folklore. At home waits her blind little sister O-Nao, the one person who pulls real tenderness out of her.
