Synopsis

Dwayne Hoover owns the biggest car dealership in Midland City and gets treated like a hometown celebrity. Behind the grin, everything is coming apart: his pill-swallowing wife, a mistress who won't let go, and a sales manager (Nick Nolte) hiding lingerie under his suit and convinced the boss has figured him out. Hoover's breakdown gathers speed just as a wandering writer named Kilgore Trout drifts toward town — and that meeting changes the shape of his crisis.
