Synopsis
The Wind Will Carry Us (1999) — watch online this Iranian drama from Abbas Kiarostami, shot in a remote Kurdish village in the mountains of western Iran. A crew of city engineers arrives, officially on a technical assignment — though their actual purpose, quietly hinted at throughout, is to film the funeral of an elderly woman who is expected to die any day.
She doesn't. Behzad Dorani plays the team's restless lead, who keeps climbing a hillside to get a phone signal, exchanges fragments of conversation with village children, and descends into a dark well on an errand that turns into something else entirely. Kiarostami withholds as much as he shows.
The film took the Special Jury Prize at Venice and remains one of the quietest, most patient films of its decade — not about death, but about what happens when someone waiting for death starts actually paying attention. Stream The Wind Will Carry Us online on iFILM.
