About

Synopsis

The Chase (1994) is a US action comedy directed by Adam Rifkin — watch online on iFILM. Charlie Sheen plays Jack Hammond, a wrongly convicted fugitive who grabs millionaire's daughter Natalie Voss (Kristy Swanson) as an improvised hostage and floors it toward the Mexican border in her red BMW.

The police are on them immediately. So are the helicopters. So is every television crew in California, broadcasting the whole thing live. Ray Wise plays Natalie's tycoon father, furious and negotiating simultaneously. Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and Anthony Kiedis turn up in small roles along the way. The running joke — that the hostage starts warming up to her captor while the world watches — gets milked for every mile.

Rifkin made no pretense of seriousness here. It is 84 minutes of car-chase farce, Sheen doing his breezy Sheen thing, Swanson keeping pace, and the 1990s in full bloom. Stream The Chase (1994) online on iFILM.
