Ultras

Ultras (2020) is an Italian drama you can watch online on iFILM, the debut feature from director Francesco Lettieri. Set in Naples, 109 minutes, with Aniello Arena in the lead.

Sandro is pushing fifty and has spent his adult life with a Napoli ultras group. He knows the rhythms: match days, confrontations with rival fans, the tight codes of loyalty that bind the group together. He's also taken a young newcomer, Pirulo, under his wing. But something is shifting. For the first time Sandro is aware of wanting a different kind of life — something quieter, maybe even a relationship — and he doesn't quite know what to do with that awareness.

Lettieri keeps the film close to faces and street corners rather than stadium spectacle; this isn't a film about football so much as about what happens when a man's entire identity is built around a tribe he's starting to outgrow.
