Synopsis

Ayla: The Daughter of War (2017) is a Turkish war drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Can Ulkay and drawn from a true story that stayed hidden for six decades. During the Korean War, Sergeant Süleyman from the Turkish Star Brigade finds a half-frozen little girl alone in the ruins — no name, no family, no way out.

He names her Ayla, smuggles her onto the base, and over the months that follow the two become inseparable. İsmail Hacıoğlu plays Süleyman with a quiet restraint that lands harder than any dramatic outburst, and the bond he builds with the child actress Kim Seol feels entirely real. Eric Roberts appears in a supporting role as an American officer navigating the same impossible situation.

The real Süleyman Dılbırlıoğlu found Ayla again 60 years later — that reunion makes it into the film's final minutes. Ayla became Turkey's submission for the Academy Awards and broke domestic box-office records that year. Stream it online on iFILM.
