Synopsis
Now Where Did the Seventh Company Get to? (1973) — watch online this French wartime comedy directed by Robert Lamoureux on iFILM, the first entry in a popular trilogy that packed French cinemas throughout the 1970s.
June 1940. The French army is collapsing. The entire 7th Company is captured — except for a three-man reconnaissance patrol that was elsewhere when it happened. Sergeant Posquet, private Biaccas and corporal Choucas are now stranded deep inside German-occupied territory, trying to stay invisible, find food and eventually rejoin their unit. Combat is the last thing on their minds.
Pierre Mondy, Jean Lefebvre and Aldo Maccione play the trio as a study in contrasts: the fussy NCO, the bone-idle private and the excitable southerner whose instincts are wrong in creative ways. Lamoureux keeps the tone light — this is farce set against collapse, not satire of it — and the film's easy rhythm is exactly what made it a crowd-pleaser. Two sequels followed with the same characters. Stream the film (1973) on iFILM.
