Prancer

Prancer (1989) is a family Christmas drama with a touch of fantasy that you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by John D. Hancock, it centers on eight-year-old Jessica, the daughter of a struggling apple farmer who can barely keep the orchard going. Through all of it, she still believes in Santa Claus.

One day Jessica finds a wounded reindeer in the woods and decides it has to be Prancer, fallen from a holiday display in town. She hides the animal in the barn, feeds it cookies on the sly, and nurses its hurt leg, certain Santa will come back for it. The trouble is her father. Worn down and short on money, he discovers the reindeer and plans to sell it off. A child's faith runs straight into a grown man's exhaustion.

Sam Elliott plays the gruff father, and it is his quiet, weathered performance that keeps the movie honest rather than sugary, turning it into a real story about grief, poverty, and stubborn hope.
