Coven

Coven (Akelarre, 2020) is a historical drama directed by Pablo Agüero that you can watch online on iFILM. The Basque Country, 1609: with the men of a fishing village out at sea, royal inquisitor Judge Rostegui arrives and arrests a group of young women on charges of witchcraft.

Ana and her friends know the outcome is fixed. Confession or not, the verdict is already written. So instead of breaking, they start performing — feeding Rostegui's obsessions with such precision that the mock sabbath they stage begins to take on a life of its own, unsettling the man who thought he held all the power.

Shot on location in the Pyrenees, the film has genuine cold in it. Amaia Aberasturi carries Ana through every interrogation scene without a false note.
