Synopsis
Little Voice (2020) is a musical drama you can watch online on iFILM. Bess King writes songs and sings them in small New York bars, but it never quite turns into a career. Few people are really listening, and she has plenty to say.
Between sublets, walking other people's dogs and a day job at an event hall, Bess tries to find her own voice — onstage and off. Her family makes that harder: a father raising two kids alone, and a brother on the autism spectrum she's closer to than anyone. Brittany O'Grady plays her quietly and precisely, with no melodrama. One season, nine episodes, and not a wasted one.
The show was created by Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson, with Bareilles writing the entire original score — the songs aren't background here, they're how Bess says what she can't out loud. Among the directors is Christopher Storer, who later made The Bear. A warm, low-key pick for anyone who likes stories about music and figuring yourself out without the gloss.
