Synopsis
The Soul Eater (Le Mangeur d'âmes, 2024) is a French-Belgian supernatural thriller directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury that you can watch online on iFILM. Commander Guardiano arrives in a small mountain village to investigate the death of a married couple; Captain de Rolan is already there looking for missing children. Neither expected to need the other.
The couple's son keeps saying something called the Soul Eater will come for him. A carved wooden figure was found at the crime scene — old, the kind of thing that belongs in a folklore archive. More deaths follow. Virginie Ledoyen and Paul Hamy play the two investigators as people who carry their own damage into an already dark case, and the friction between them gives the film a second layer of tension that runs alongside the supernatural one. Sandrine Bonnaire appears in a supporting role that adds weight to the village's buried history.
