Synopsis
Loft (2008) is a Belgian noir thriller directed by Erik Van Looy that you can watch online on iFILM. Five married men quietly pool resources to rent a private loft — an undisclosed address where each keeps a separate key and a separate secret. Then a woman's body turns up in the apartment, and since only five keys exist, the circle of suspects is exactly five people.
The film moves between present-day police interrogations and layered flashbacks, unpeeling each man's version of events. Koen De Bouw and Filip Peeters anchor a cast that includes an early Matthias Schoenaerts and Veerle Baetens, who brings far more depth to her role than the plot initially seems to call for. As alibis crack, the film becomes less a whodunit and more an excavation of how men lie — to their wives, to each other, to themselves.
Van Looy keeps the claustrophobia tight across 118 minutes, and the ending earns its punch precisely because the characters were never particularly likeable to begin with. Stream Loft (2008) online on iFILM.
