Synopsis
The Memory of a Killer (De zaak Alzheimer, 2003) is Erik Van Looy's Belgian crime thriller, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Angelo Ledda, an aging contract killer, returns to Antwerp for one last job just as his memory begins to fail him.
Ledda, played by Jan Decleir, has Alzheimer's — names, faces and the terms of the hit keep slipping away, and notes scrawled on his own arm are all he can rely on. When his employers order him to kill a twelve-year-old girl, he refuses, and the hunter becomes the target. Two of the city's sharpest detectives, Vincke and Verstuyft, close in, until killer and cops end up wanting the same men dead.
The film swept Belgium's top prizes for best picture, director and Decleir's lead performance, the one that holds the whole thing together. Hollywood later remade it as Memory with Liam Neeson, but the original cuts deeper and feels more human. Stream The Memory of a Killer (2003) online on iFILM.
