Synopsis
Cold Hell (Die Hölle, 2017) is a brutal Austrian thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Oscar winner Stefan Ruzowitzky. In Vienna, a Turkish-German taxi driver glances across the courtyard and sees a woman being murdered.
The problem: the killer sees her too. The police brush her off, so she is left to defend herself, with only a worn-out detective willing to take her in. She happens to be a Thai boxer, which makes this particular prey hard to corner — the cat-and-mouse keeps flipping on who is hunting whom.
Ruzowitzky, who took home an Academy Award for The Counterfeiters, trades prestige for a lean, bruising genre piece about a woman backed against the wall who refuses to fold. Violetta Schurawlow carries it. One for fans of grim, unglamorous European action. Stream Cold Hell online on iFILM.
