Synopsis
Hinterland (2021) is an Austrian crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, who previously took home an Academy Award for The Counterfeiters. The setting is Vienna in 1920 — a city stumbling through the wreckage of empire, trying to remember what it is.
Detective Peter Perg, played by Murathan Muslu, drags himself home from years as a prisoner of war to find his former comrades turning up dead. He works the case with forensic doctor Theresa Körner, played by Liv Lisa Fries, and the trail leads somewhere the local police would prefer it didn't. Matthias Schweighöfer appears in a supporting role.
