Synopsis
Cameraperson (2016) is a documentary memoir by cinematographer Kirsten Johnson, available to watch online on iFILM. Over two decades she shot other people's films around the globe; here she edits the leftover footage into a portrait of herself.
There's no voice-of-god narration and no clean storyline — just fragments that pile up: a birth in a Nigerian clinic, a Bosnian village still scarred by war, a conversation with philosopher Jacques Derrida, quiet shots of her own ageing mother. Out of the mosaic rises the question that haunts every documentarian: where does truth end and the camera's choice begin? It's slow, intimate filmmaking for viewers who'd rather reflect than chase a plot. Stream Cameraperson online on iFILM.
