Jane
It took a woman to unlock the secret of early man.
Synopsis
Jane (2017) is Brett Morgen's documentary that you can watch online on iFILM, assembled almost entirely from footage left unseen in the National Geographic archive for fifty years.
A young Jane Goodall arrives at Gombe in Tanzania with no degree and limitless patience. Filming her — and later marrying her — is wildlife cameraman Hugo van Lawick, who catches chimpanzees making tools, fighting, grieving and reaching for one another. Morgen shapes the reels into something personal: the story of a woman who quietly redrew the line between humans and animals.
Philip Glass wrote the score, turning field observation into something close to meditation. It rewards more than nature buffs — it's a study of stubbornness that outlasted the academic snobbery of the 1960s. Stream Jane (2017) online on iFILM.
