Synopsis
Treasure Island (L'Île Aux Trésors, 2007) is a French adventure comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Alain Berbérian and starring Gérard Jugnot and Alice Taglioni. Robert Louis Stevenson's classic gets run through a Gallic absurdist filter: a heavily drunk Doctor Livesey amputates the wrong limb from Silver — that is how the pirate ends up one-legged — and Squire Trelawney turns out to be a baroness with attitude, debt, and a boat.
The crew assembled for the Caribbean voyage is perfectly dysfunctional: a legless pirate without a map, a penniless baroness with a vessel, a young man who holds the map somewhere in his badly failing memory, and a doctor who specialises in precisely that kind of amnesia.
