The Elephant Queen
Embark on an epic journey of family, courage, and coming home.
Synopsis
The Elephant Queen (2019) is a wildlife documentary you can watch online on iFILM, narrated by Chiwetel Ejiofor. It follows Athena, a matriarch elephant guiding her herd across a drying African savanna toward the water they need to survive.
Filmmakers Mark Deeble and Victoria Stone spent years living beside the herd, and it shows. The lens sits close enough to catch a calf's eyelashes and the cracked skin of the older cows. When the drought tightens, Athena has to choose who keeps moving and who stays behind. Frogs, dung beetles and egrets around the waterhole each get a small thread of their own, so the whole ecosystem comes alive rather than just the big animals. Honest, unhurried family viewing that earns its quiet moments. Stream The Elephant Queen (2019) online on iFILM.
