Like a Cat on a Highway 2 (Come un gatto in tangenziale — Ritorno a Coccia di Morto, 2021) is an Italian comedy directed by Riccardo Milani — watch it online on iFILM. Three years on from the first film, Monica is in prison, landed there by her reckless sisters, and has exactly one lifeline: Giovanni, the well-connected, well-heeled liberal she can barely stand.

Paola Cortellesi and Antonio Albanese are back in the leads, and their mismatched chemistry is where the film lives. The class divide that drove the original hasn't narrowed — if anything it's sharper now — and Giovanni's carefully suppressed feelings for Monica add a pressure that keeps the comedy from coasting on familiar jokes. Claudio Amendola and Luca Argentero round out a strong supporting cast.

Milani pushes the story into more personal territory this time, making the sequel less of a social satire and more of a story about two people who are genuinely bad at reaching each other.
