Synopsis

That poet is Dylan Thomas, played by Matthew Rhys. When his childhood sweetheart Vera crosses paths with him and his volatile wife Caitlin, the four end up sharing a life that none of them can quite escape. Vera marries dashing officer William Killick (Cillian Murphy), but the pull of Thomas lingers. The film is drawn from real events — and it treats them with an unsettling honesty about how desire and desperation blur in wartime.
