Synopsis
"I Used to Be Funny" (2024) is a Canadian comedy-drama directed by Ellie Pankiw — watch it online on iFILM. Rachel Sennott plays Sam Cowell, an aspiring stand-up comedian and former au pair working through PTSD who learns that Brooke, a teenage girl she once nannied, has gone missing. Sam was the last person to see her — three days ago, not four.
The film splits between timelines: the present, where Sam is slowly pulling herself back toward the stage, and the past, where her bond with Brooke gradually surfaces what she'd rather keep buried. Sennott manages the tonal balance well — the comedy never reads as avoidance, and the grief never tips into pure melodrama. Watch "I Used to Be Funny" (2024) online on iFILM.
