Afterwards

Afterwards (2008) is a supernatural mystery drama from director Gilles Bourdos, and you can watch it online on iFILM. New York lawyer Nathan Del Amico is coasting through life after his divorce when a soft-spoken stranger, Dr. Kay, walks in and refuses to leave him alone.

Kay says he can sense death coming — he sees a glow around people who have little time left. Nathan dismisses it as nonsense. Then small coincidences start stacking up, and he begins to suspect the glow is hovering around him. Romain Duris plays a man losing his footing, while John Malkovich gives Kay an unreadable calm that's somehow more unsettling than any threat.

It's a slow, cold-toned film washed in grey and blue, more about making peace with mortality than cracking a case. Best suited to viewers who like moody European dramas that leave more open than they close. Adapted from Guillaume Musso's novel. Stream Afterwards online on iFILM.
