Synopsis
The Last Deadly Mission (MR 73, 2008) is a French crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Olivier Marchal and led by Daniel Auteuil as Commissioner Louis Schneider — suspended from the force, barely functional, still the sharpest investigator in Marseilles.
A serial killer is working through the city, and Schneider pursues him off the books, accountable to nobody. At the same time, a man named Charles Subra is quietly released from prison. Twenty-five years earlier he murdered a young woman's parents in front of her. Those two threads are heading toward each other from the opening frame.
Marchal — a former cop himself — writes police procedurals without the usual genre comfort. Auteuil carries the film almost entirely on his own: this is not a detective who wins, it is a man who has already lost most things worth having and keeps moving anyway.
