Synopsis
The Lost City (2005) is Andy Garcia's historical drama you can watch online on iFILM. Havana in the final months of the 1950s, just before the world of the Cuban capital comes apart for good.
Fico Fellove runs the city's finest nightclub, El Tropico, where the music plays and the dancing lasts till dawn. His family splits down the middle: one brother joins Castro and Che in the hills, another throws in with plotting army officers. As the uprising builds in the streets, Fico tries to hold on to his relatives, his club and the woman he loves — and loses all of it along with the city he knew. Garcia took the lead role and stepped behind the camera for the first time here.
Around him are Dustin Hoffman as mobster Meyer Lansky and Bill Murray as a wisecracking American writer who watches it all unravel. Cuban-born Garcia spent nearly two decades getting the film made, as a personal farewell to a homeland he left behind — he chose the music himself, and the boleros carry as much weight as the dialogue. A long, nostalgic, unapologetically one-sided picture for anyone who loves a sweeping story about a vanishing world. Stream The Lost City (2005) online on iFILM.
