Synopsis
The Puffy Chair (2006) is a road trip comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM, made by the Duplass Brothers on a micro-budget with a digital camera. Josh bids on a vintage recliner on eBay — one just like his father used to have — and decides to haul it across several states as a birthday gift.
His girlfriend Emily (Katherine Aselton) and his brother Rhett come along. The trip is a few days. The chair makes it fine. The relationship does not fare as well — and the film's quiet observation is that Josh and Emily have been circling this particular argument for a while without knowing it. Duplass and Aselton were an actual couple at the time, and their scenes carry a texture that scripted dialogue rarely gets to.
