Synopsis
Hail Satan? (2019) is a US documentary directed by Penny Lane — watch online on iFILM. It follows The Satanic Temple, a religious activist organization that has been equal parts legal firebrand and culture-war punchline since its founding in 2013.
The group's members don't worship the devil in any literal sense. What they do is sue city governments over Christian displays on public property, lobby for abortion rights, and erect Baphomet statues next to Ten Commandments monuments at state capitols — arguing, with a straight face, that equal access to public space means equal access for everyone, including them. Their campaigns have forced courts and legislators to confront exactly how far the separation of church and state actually extends.
