Synopsis
The Big Risk (Classe tous risques, 1960) is a French crime noir you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Claude Sautet and starring Lino Ventura beside a very young Jean-Paul Belmondo.
Abel Davos has spent a decade hiding out in Italy, but the walls are closing in. He needs to get back to France and rebuild a life with his wife and two small sons. A brazen daylight payroll heist in Milan pays for the trip — then the getaway turns bloody. In Paris his old associates want nothing to do with the heat he's carrying. The only hand extended comes from a stranger, a young wheelman named Eric Stark.
The script comes from a novel by José Giovanni, an ex-convict who knew the underworld first-hand, which is why the whole thing feels so unsentimental about it. Sautet cares less about the robberies than about the weariness of a man with nowhere left to go.
