Synopsis
The Informant (Gibraltar, 2013) is a French crime thriller from Julien Leclercq, drawn from a real man's story and available to watch online on iFILM. Early-1980s Gibraltar: a bar by the water, and an ordinary Frenchman named Marc scraping by on odd jobs.
To provide for his wife and son, Marc agrees to tip off customs about smugglers crossing the strait — a small side gig, safe enough on paper. Step by step he gets pulled into the drug runs themselves, always promised cover from above. Then a deal goes wrong, and he learns the hard way that a man who serves the state loyally stays useful to it only until his first slip.
Gilles Lellouche plays Marc, with Tahar Rahim and Riccardo Scamarcio beside him. Leclercq shoots it dry and tense, stripped of any spy-movie gloss: a portrait of an ordinary man ground down by the system he trusted. One for fans of grounded European crime drama with no heroics.
