Synopsis
A Wonderful Era (Une époque formidable, 1991) is a French tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Gérard Jugnot, who also takes the lead. His character, Michel Berthier, is a senior executive at a mattress company — and he has just been let go.
Too ashamed to tell his partner Juliette the truth, Michel borrows money, buries the family in gifts, then quietly walks out. Within weeks the cash, the car, even his shoes are gone. Three rough sleepers take him in: Toubib, Mimosa and Crayon, who wash up in the restrooms of the Gare de l'Est and answer to nobody. Soon they talk him into breaking back into his old firm to lift a few sleeping bags and beds.
