Synopsis
Goal of the Dead (2014) mixes a football pitch with a zombie outbreak, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Directed by Benjamin Rocher and Thierry Poiraud, this French horror-comedy runs over two hours and splits cleanly into two halves, like a match with a bloody intermission.
The Olympique de Paris squad rolls into the small northern town of Caplongue for a meaningless friendly to close out the season. The players just want it over with. Then the opening whistle blows and a rabies-like infection tears through the town, turning locals into frenzied, ultra-violent creatures who bite anything that moves. Stadium, locker rooms and streets become a battleground where footballers, fans and townspeople have to band together just to survive to the final whistle.
The tone never pretends to be serious — gore by the bucketload, jokes flying faster, sports tropes flipped on their head.
