About

Synopsis

Adú (2020) is a Spanish drama directed by Salvador Calvo — watch it online on iFILM. Three separate stories, three locations between Africa and Europe, three people who have no idea the others exist.

Six-year-old Adú and his older sister crouch beside a runway in Cameroon waiting for a cargo hold to open — their only plan for reaching Europe. Far to the north, in Melilla, the Spanish coastal enclave on African soil, a civil guard officer named Mateo patrols the razor-wire fence and comes face to face, shift after shift, with the people his job requires him to push back. In the jungle of Equatorial Guinea, an environmental activist fights poachers and tries to reconnect with the daughter he barely knows. Luis Tosar, Álvaro Cervantes and Anna Castillo carry each storyline toward the moment the three paths cross.

Released on Netflix, the film became one of the platform's most-watched Spanish-language releases. Calvo keeps the camera close and the politics implicit — the situation makes the argument without the script needing to. Stream Adú (2020) online on iFILM.
