The New Toy

For his birthday, Alexandre — son of the wealthiest man in France — gets to choose anything from his father's department store. He picks Sami, the night watchman asleep at his post. Sami goes along with it, terrified of losing his job. What unfolds isn't quite the farce the premise promises: Debbouze plays it warm and a little sad, and the film slowly reveals that Alexandre's coldness comes from a boy left alone too often.
