Synopsis
PadreNostro (Our Father, 2020) is an Italian drama directed by Claudio Noce — watch it online on iFILM. Pierfrancesco Favino leads a cast that brings the Rome of 1976 back with quiet precision.
Ten-year-old Valerio has an orderly, comfortable life in a well-off Roman family. Then someone shoots his father — a police officer — and everything tilts. Almost immediately, a street kid named Christian appears, seemingly from nowhere, and begins hovering at the edges of Valerio's world. Their bond forms slowly, across a summer shadowed by Italy's Years of Lead, the period when the Red Brigades were dismantling the country's sense of safety one attack at a time. The political violence stays at the margins; Noce keeps his camera close to the boys.
The film draws on Noce's own childhood memories, which shows in the texture — no grand statements, no tidy resolution, just the specific weight of a boy trying to make sense of sudden danger. Mattia Garaci and Francesco Gheghi are remarkable opposite Favino. Stream PadreNostro (2020) online on iFILM.
