Katie moves through relationships with men who are too old for her, keeps her family at arm's length, and posts with a candor that feels like control. And slowly the gaps in what she's written — the things she never types — start to matter more than the confessions she does share.

Burnett adapted his own novel and keeps the film deliberately off-balance. Robertson carries it on pure force of presence: Katie is charismatic in a way that doesn't invite easy sympathy, and the film earns that discomfort rather than resolving it.
