Synopsis

A police officer wipes out a family during an anti-terror raid and adopts the lone surviving boy. The child grows up calling him father. When the truth finally reaches him, it places the two men on opposite sides of one of South Asia's most persistent conflicts. Vinod Chopra — who later produced Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and 3 Idiots — wrote and directed here, framing the Kashmir conflict as something closer to inherited tragedy than political statement.
