Synopsis
Ilo Ilo (2013) is a Singaporean family drama by Anthony Chen, available to watch online on iFILM. As the late-1990s Asian financial crisis bites, a stretched working couple brings a Filipino nanny into their cramped flat.
Hwee Leong and Hyun are drowning in work and debt, and their unruly son Jiale needs minding. Enter Teresa, the live-in maid. The boy fights her at first, then bonds with her more deeply than with his own parents — just as the family starts losing jobs and savings. Yeo Yann Yann plays the pregnant mother, with Angeli Bayani as the maid.
