Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese
Synopsis
Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese (2019) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM. In the autumn of 1975, Dylan pulled together a ragged caravan of musicians and poets and took it out to play small halls across America.
The screen fills with live performances from that tour: Dylan under white face paint, Joan Baez, Allen Ginsberg, Patti Smith, violinist Scarlet Rivera, Roger McGuinn. Scorsese stitches archival reels, decades-later interviews and backstage chaos into a portrait of a country on the eve of its bicentennial — worn thin by Vietnam and Watergate, yet still singing.
Then comes the sleight of hand: some of the on-screen witnesses and stories are pure invention, fact and hoax blended until the seam vanishes. This isn't a tidy biopic but a waking dream about memory, myth and how a legend gets built. The concert footage, though, is real and electric. Stream Rolling Thunder Revue online on iFILM.
