Perhaps Love

Perhaps Love (如果·爱, 2005) is a Hong Kong musical drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Peter Chan Ho-sun builds a film-within-a-film: cinematographer Kam (Takeshi Kaneshiro) and leading actress Sun Na (Zhou Xun) are reunited on a mainland China production — and their director turns out to be Nie Wen (Jacky Cheung), someone from a chapter in their past neither of them wants to revisit.

Chan uses the musical's elaborate stagecraft — period costumes, big numbers, a constructed world — to show how the past gets rewritten each time someone tells it.
