Synopsis
The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun (2015) is a French-Belgian neo-noir thriller from Joann Sfar that you can watch online on iFILM. Dany, a lonely young secretary, borrows her boss's luxury car for a weekend and drives off toward a coast she has never once seen.
The trip curdles fast. Strangers greet her by a name that isn't hers, swear she passed through towns she's never visited, and then she opens the trunk and finds a corpse. Dany is short-sighted, alone, easy to confuse — and she can no longer tell whether she's losing her mind or being slotted into someone else's cold-blooded plan. Freya Mavor carries the whole film on raw nerves, with Stacy Martin, Benjamin Biolay and Elio Germano around her.
Sfar, the cartoonist behind Gainsbourg, adapts Sébastien Japrisot's novel and bathes it all in liquid, almost hallucinatory summer light.
