Synopsis
Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel I. Presage Flower (2017) is the first chapter of ufotable's cinematic trilogy — watch it online on iFILM. Director Tomonori Sudo adapts the Heaven's Feel route from the original visual novel: the darkest of the three story paths, where the Holy Grail War becomes secondary to one boy's choice between a noble ideal and a single fragile life.
In Fuyuki City, the Fifth Holy Grail War is underway — seven Master-Servant pairs fighting for the right to have any wish granted. Shirou Emiya (voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama) carries the memory of a disaster that burned the city to the ground a decade ago. He's in love with his quiet classmate Sakura Matou, badly hiding it even from himself. Then something breaks the rules entirely: an anomalous Shadow starts consuming Servants, operating outside every law the war has ever had. Shirou must decide whether to keep chasing the ideal of a hero or simply protect the person standing in front of him.
Ufotable's production is meticulous — the opening fight between Lancer and Archer set a benchmark for TV-to-film anime action that held through the rest of the decade. This is not a standalone entry; newcomers to the franchise will be lost. But for fans of the Fate series, Presage Flower delivers the route that the original medium always made feel the most human.
